1 – Mehmood
Mehmood Ali Khan or commonly known
as Mehmood is the uncrowned comedy king of Bollywood. Mehmood has
worked in over 300 Hindi films and died in his sleep in Pennsylvania
U.S. on 23rd July 2004. He won the filmfare Best Comedian Award for Pyar Kiye Jaa (1967), Waris (1970), Paras (1972) and Vardaan (1975).
2 – Kader Khan
Kader Khan, aged 76 was born in
Balochistan (now Pakistan). He is not only a comedian but also a script
and dialogue writer and a director. Kader Khan is well known for his amazing acting skills and won the Screen Award for the best performance in comic role in 1995. He has acted in over 300 films in Hindi and Urdu.
3 – Paresh Rawal
Paresh Rawal, aged 61 was born in Ahmedabad, India. A Hindi film actor
of Gujrati background, Paresh made his film debut in 1984 with ‘Holi’,
mainly playing supporting and villain roles throughout 80’s and 90’s. He
started playing comic roles since 2000. In 1994, he won the National
Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for ‘Who Chokri & Sir’. In 2001, Paresh Rawal won the Filmfare Best Comedian Award for ‘Hera Pheri’.
4 – Asrani
Asrani, aged 71 was born in
Jaipur, India. His first Hindi movie was Umang, which had Subhash Ghai
and Paintal. Asrani has acted in over 300 films. He won the Filmfare
Award for best comedian for ‘Aaj ki Taaza Khabar’ in 1973 and for
‘Balika Badhu’ in 1976.
5 – Johnny Walker
Johnny Walker
whose real name was Badruddin Jamaluddin Kazi was born in Indore,
India. He acted in over 300 films. He was a bus conductor and used to
entertain passengers aboard with some antics and these antics fetched
him the role of a comedian in Guru Dutt’s film ‘Baazi’. He also starred
in the Punjabi film ‘Teri Meri Ek Jindari’. Johnny Walker
won the Filmfare Best Comedian Award for his role in ‘Shikar’. He died
at the age of 80 in
Mumbai.
6 – Anupam Kher
Anupam Kher, aged 57 was born in
Shimla, India. He has not only tried his hand in comedy but has also
done serious and villainous roles. The amazing actor made his acting debut in Hindi movie Aagman (1982). He won the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Comic Role five times more than any other actor. Anupam Kher served as Chairman of the Indian Film Censor Board and has been recently appointed the goodwill ambassador of Pratham Education Foundation, which strives to improve children’s education in India.
7 – Boman Irani
Boman Irani, aged 52 was born to a Parsi family in Mumbai, India. He is an Indian film and theatre actor and Photographer.
Boman gained attention for his role in the 2003 comedy ‘Munna Bhai
M.B.B.S.’ and his role in ‘3 idiots’ opposite Aamir Khan earned him a
Filmfare Award and a Star Screen Award for Best Actor in a villainous role.
8– Johnny Lever
John Prakasa Rao Janumala popularly known as Johnny Lever, aged 62 was born in Prakasam District, Andhra Pradesh (India). Johnny Lever began his acting career in 1984 and has acted in more than 300 Bollywood films. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Comedian twice for films Deewana Mastana (1998) and Dulhe Raja (1999).
9 – Rajpal Yadav
Rajpal Yadav, aged 41 was born in
Shahjahanpur, U.P. (India). Before joining films, he acted in the
Doordarshan’s Television serial Mungeri Ke Bhai Naurangilal. Rajpal was
given a small role in Ram Gopal Varman’s ‘Mast’ and after seeing his
acting skill, RGV gave him a challenging role in ‘Jungle’. Although, he
found success in negative roles, he has preffered comic roles such as in
Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya and went on to become a prolific comedian in Hindi
films.
10 – Sanjay Mishra
Sanjay Mishra, aged 48 was born in Patna, Bihar (India). He is an Indian actor
and comedian who is best known for his character of Apple Singh. Sanjay
made his film debut in 1995 with Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India!. He is also
best known for his comedic act in the film ‘All The Best’.
